Custom tours available for school children of all ages, making it a fun educational trip out of the classroom.  Tours can be focused on specific topics involving local history, Maori legends, geology, the wildlife sanctuary and the native birds with Cape kidnapper’s gannet colony and the gannets being the main focus.

After being at the gannet plateau we can park up down at the DOC hut and the children can walk on the track down to the beach for a morning/afternoon tea, tide dependent. An extra 1-1.5 hour is required for this

Children need to bring morning or afternoon tea or lunch.  Drink bottles etc.  Tea and coffee for adults is provided.

Buses seat 21 people each and we can cater for up to 100 children and caregivers per trip.

All RAM documents etc. provided to schools on booking.

Gannets aren’t the only bird who call the Cape Kidnappers Peninsula home!

Hundreds of little blue penguins burrow along the shoreline of the peninsula, inhabiting sand dune, coastal grasses and cliffside. In fact, the lower gannet colony shares terrain with penguin burrows.

These gorgeous penguins are kept safe by the pest control and habitat restoration work of the @cape_sanctuary team!

Located below the steep cliffs of the main colony is a slightly smaller seaside colony where gannets and fur seals share the rocky shore. Further along the point is the ‘saddle’ colony, a smaller collective only viewed from the main platform as erosion has rendered the cliff side impassable.
