Have your own personal encounter with these magnificent seabirds with the sun rising over the plateau - available every day from 1 September – 30 April (except Christmas Day).
3 hours - $845 for up to 4 people
The East Cape and Hawkes Bay Coast are the first places in the world to see the sun rise out of the ocean. This unique tour to the Cape Kidnappers Gannet Colony is your personal encounter with these remarkable birds, situated at the impressive Cape itself.
Our 4x4 Range Rover will take you on your private tour overland through Cape Kidnappers Station, approximately 2,500 hectares, whilst being given the story of it’s fascinating history.
In addition to sheep and beef farming, the station today has a 200-hectare native bush sanctuary hosting introduced Kiwi and Tuatara with a predator proof fence running from coast to coast.
There is a luxury lodge with a privately-owned world class golf course. Stop on top of the cliff tops and look down at the remarkable geology of the cliffs and sweeping views across Hawkes Bay.
When at the colony, you'll be mesmerised by the spectacular birds with their eye markings and golden crowns. Be within just a few feet of adults and chicks nesting, preening themselves and performing their courtship dance.
While at the plateau we will serve you a gourmet breakfast of croissants, ham & cheese, pastries, muesli, yogurt, fresh fruit - plunger coffee and fresh juice
